JULIA DECKER BURKE
Counseling Philosophy:
I became an independent college counselor because I think there needs to be more communication about the college process, college expectations and life after college, with the student and the parents. I feel the counselor is a neutral and knowledgeable person who can coordinate information effectively with less emotion. As a lawyer and counselor at law, I have over twenty-five years’ experience counseling parties.
Recently, many college students have contacted and hired us to help with class selection, changing majors, transferring universities, graduate school advice and assistance. The curvy path can often be the most interesting.
I serve as Claritas’ Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
